Another example (thanks to Frank) of how people in web communities use My Virtual Model to present themselves.

 

Scroll down till you see the model on the right side.  Note that the person does not want to show photos or use a web cam, but is excited and pround about sharing her current Virtual Model and a slimer one with several pounds less!

Zittrain presents his case for describing the internet as a "generative" phenomenon and goes on to describe how mounting internet security problems threaten to engender a consumer backlash against the openness of the net and hence its generativity.
